“The word of this week is FRICTION.
Hey Savi and PayPal launch the UK's first agentic-commerce platform. TRIP rolls out its biggest-ever creator campaign. Whole Foods continues its UK expansion. Lune & Wild raises capital to increase capacity and expand distribution.
Different categories. Same objective. Remove friction. The most interesting businesses today aren't necessarily creating new demand. They're making it easier for consumers to discover, access and purchase existing products.
That's why the Hey Savi launch feels significant. Historically, consumers searched for products, compared options and completed purchases themselves. Increasingly, technology is doing that work for them. The same principle appears elsewhere. Functional wellness brands are moving into mainstream grocery aisles. Digital-first brands are scaling through retail distribution. Retailers are investing in convenience, accessibility and speed.
For years, businesses competed on product. Increasingly, they compete on how little effort the customer has to expend. Because in a world with infinite choice, the easiest path often wins.

When the storefront becomes an AI
Most businesses still assume customers visit websites to shop. Agentic commerce challenges that.
Hey Savi's partnership with PayPal caught my eye this week. Not because it's another AI launch, but because it challenges one of the assumptions most businesses still operate under: that customers visit websites to shop.
Historically, brands controlled the customer journey. Consumers landed on a website, browsed products and completed checkout. Agentic commerce flips that model. Discovery, comparison and even purchasing can now happen before a customer ever visits your site.
The Numbers.
Brands searchable 10,000+ Across Hey Savi's AI fashion index. | Checkout Native PayPal In-app, with no redirect to a brand site. | First UK adopter Debenhams Plus Karen Millen, Boohoo and PrettyLittleThing. | New question Not traffic Whether an AI agent picks your product at all. |
* Figures per PayPal Newsroom, June 2026.
|
The implication is significant. If AI agents become the primary interface between consumers and products, websites may become fulfilment infrastructure rather than destinations.
The question for brands shifts from 'How do we get traffic?' to 'How do we become the product an AI chooses?' That feels like a much bigger change than a new checkout button. PayPal Newsroom →

Key insight
The Take.
When AI agents do the discovering and buying, your website stops being a destination and becomes fulfilment. The race isn't for traffic any more. It's to be the product the agent chooses.
